Rev. Robert C. Elmore - Founder of the House of Prayer
This page of our website has been set aside to pay tribute to the founding pastor of the House of Prayer Church, Rev. Robert C. Elmore. Bro. Elmore was called home to be with our Lord on April 19, 2010 after having served as pastor for over 54 years. He was born in 1921 in the neighboring Green Country community of Summersville. He dedicated his life in service to God, preaching to countless across many states during his ministry, winning thousands of souls to the Lord. It was said that when Bro. Elmore arrived in Edmonton his preaching caused one of the greatest religous stirs the county had ever seen. A bold preacher of the Word of God, his ministry included radio broadcasts, tent meetings, store-front and street meetings.
It was in Edmonton where the Lord moved upon Bro. Elmore to build a church and the original church was built on the very site it stands today.
As pastor, he devoted himself to his church and the congregation he pastored. It was his life! He sheltered the church just a shepherd would his folk. His greatest desire in life was to win souls to Christ and his ministry was a reflection of that desire.
His legacy continues to live on at the House of Prayer and he will never be forgotten!
